You are Loved by God is another attribute of how God sees you. Previously, we discovered identity in Christ meaning and what is our identity in Jesus Christ.
The first attribute we discovered is that you are chosen by God, then we looked at how you are blessed by God, and now we will dive into how you are loved by God!
What God says above His love for me
God loves us so much! It is repeated over and over again in scripture. When I searched for love, I kept coming up with ‘steadfast love.’ 202 verses in the Bible talk about God’s steadfast love! Wow!
Steadfast in the dictionary means unwavering or loyal. In Hebrew, steadfast or chesed is ‘sure or loyal’ in this context. God is so loyal in loving us and does not waver in His devotion to us.
Here are 5 verses about God’s love for us.

1. God’s steadfast love is forever!
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
1 Chronicles 16:34 ESV
Isn’t it nice to know that He loves us forever?? He doesn’t waver one day and is so mad that he doesn’t love us anymore. He does not cast us aside.
2. God loved us so much that He had his Son, Jesus Christ, die in our place!
It is so amazing that He loves us so much that He’d send His Son to die a painful death. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done, He died for everyone!
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 ESV
3. We have hope when we endure hard times as God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
This is such a great promise! When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes in and brings buckets of God’s love to our hearts. This makes me smile!
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 5:5 ESV
4. God loved us so much that He saved us when we were dead in our sin
God sent His son to die for us when we were sinners not when we were doing good. You can hear of people willing to risk their lives for another when they have done something good – like risking their life for you. But how often do you hear of someone dying for a bad person? Probably never as most would think that would be dumb because the person didn’t deserve it. The only one who has done that is Jesus Christ! He died for all of us – when we didn’t deserve it all. That is why it is called grace.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 2:4-5 ESV
5. God loves us so much that we are called His Children
His love for us is like the love you’d have for a child. We are so dear to Him! He protects us, holds us when we cry, and gives us a push of encouragement to do something scary.
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
1 John 3:1 ESV
Does God still love me after sin?
Yes, He does! He loved us while we were still in our sin.
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 ESV
And NOTHING can separate us from His love! These two verses are such a great promise to hold onto. They are two of my husband’s favorite verses.
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 ESV
When you are loved by God, what do you do?

Second, we are to walk in love. Jesus loved us so much that He sacrificially died on the cross for us.
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:2 ESV
Third, we love Him and obey his commandments. It shows our love back to Him. God loves us back for our obedience. If a child obeys, it makes you happy that they listening to you and obeying the rules of the household.
But showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
Deuteronomy 5:10 ESV
Fourth, we are to love one another. God loves us so much that we should show love and concern for others around us.
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
John 15:12 ESV
Fifth, we are to abide in God’s love which means we should continue with it.
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
John 15:9 ESV
This is something that we should keep doing over and over. Abiding with his love and loving others. Because he loves us, it should be a natural flow of love from within to others around us.
