Trusting God’s Plan
Are you trusting God’s Plan for you in all circumstances? What does the Bible say about God’s plan? How can I trust Him, and what does that look like?
These are all excellent questions for us to explore so let’s dig in!
What does the Bible say about God’s Plan?
God’s Word says that we are to:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6 ESV
We need to trust Him with all of our hearts. You believe that He will take care of you and do what He says.

How can I truly trust God and His Plan for me?
Throughout scripture, God has held to His promises. He has proven trustworthy time and time again.
When it seems there is no way that something will work out, it is possible with God and Jesus.
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26 ESV
When my job changed a few years ago, I was given the choice of taking severance and leaving the company. Or I could stay and work in a different department. I wanted to run and hide in another place of employment. But God had a better plan. He had me stay and work in a different department. It was a time of healing and being supported by friends and my Christian boss. And I had time to write. God was so good during this time! I had to trust God that He had the better plan. And He did!
Daniel: An Example of Trusting God
If you are unsure whether His Plan is the best for you and that He can be trusted, look to the story of Daniel for a great example.
You may remember the story of Daniel being cast into the lion’s den. King Darius had put Daniel in the lion’s den because he had prayed to God which was against a degree. The next day when Daniel is removed from the lion’s den, he tells the King how an angel had shut the mouth of the lion because he was found innocent.
My favorite part of this passage is this:
So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
Daniel 6:23b ESV
That is an example of trusting God in extreme circumstances.

How do you know God has a plan for you?
God tells us in His Word that He has plans for us.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
Knowing that God has a plan for us gives us comfort that there is hope in the future.

So God has a plan for you, but what does trusting God mean?
What does trusting God mean?
Trusting in someone or something means that you believe that they will do what they say will do or are able to do it.
Let’s talk about going on a trip far away and you need to take an airplane to get there. How confident are you that you will get there safely? Have you met the pilot before? Do you know his credentials?
You may have a little fear of heights or of flying in a plane. However, you are very likely close to 100% confident that he will get you there. Why is that?
It isn’t likely you know the pilot nor do you know all his credentials. He wouldn’t be flying the plane if he didn’t have a pilot’s license or have all the required hours it takes to get his job.
Based on the scriptures listed above, God is trustworthy. He has shown that over and over again in history. So how do you trust Him in practice?
What does trusting God look like?
Trusting God means that you believe that He will do what he says he will do.
- You will believe it with your whole heart.
- You will acknowledge Him in everything by praying. Ask Him in all your circumstances what you should do and if it is part of His plan.
- Keep spending time in His Word and listening to what He tells you.
- Keep believing that He will do it. He will direct your path as you keep praying and seeking Him for answers.
Trusting God’s Plan for me Reflection Thoughts
- Do you trust God for the plan He has for you? Think about it. Do you really trust Him? Why or why not? Take some time to pray about your level of trust in God.
- Think about Daniel and all the examples where God was trustworthy throughout scripture. Make a list of all the times that God has been reliable and faithful to you in your lifetime. Thank Him for all His faithful blessings.
- Review the list of what trusting God looks like. What is one way that you could improve your trust walk with God? Pray about that and start implementing it today!
