Know God, Know Peace

You can “Know God and Know Peace!” If you haven’t asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior, keep reading to see how God wants a relationship with you and what steps to take.

1. All have sinned

There is not a single person in this world who has not sinned or done bad things.

Every single one of us has sinned.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory God.” Romans 3:23 ESV

God is holy and He cannot be in the presence of sin. We all fall short.

2. We all deserve death, but God has a plan.

Since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden, the result was that everyone will die (Genesis 3:19). This is a physical and a spiritual death. However, Paul tells us in Romans God’s plan.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 ESV

Even though we deserve eternal death, God gives us the gift of eternal life. This gift is possible because of Jesus.

3. Jesus died for all!

God loves you and He desires to have a close relationship with you. We were all designed from the beginning to have relationships. God wants one with you too! When we have a close relationship with Him, we can know peace. That is why His inspired and inerrant Word says:

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 ESV

He desires for each one of us to have faith in Him and live with Him, in His presence, for all of eternity!

“For God so loved the world that he gave only Son, that whoever believes in him will have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV

We need to respond to Him today. By doing so, we have PEACE in this life and then have eternal life with Him when we die. We will have struggles in this world (John 16:33). But God is with us as He said He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

4. Grace not works

There is nothing that we can do on our own to gain eternal life in heaven. We are saved by grace alone. Our faith in God and Jessus allows us to receive this grace that God freely gives to us.

“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one can boast.”

 Ephesians 2:8,9 ESV

5. Peace with God

When  we believe in God through faith, we can have peace with God. This is because Jesus died for our sins and took our place. This puts us in right standing with God or what is called justified.

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 ESV

6. Confess and Believe

How can we receive eternal life? We need to admit our sin and ask the Lord to forgive us. We need to confess that we believe that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead. When we do this, we will be saved and have the promised eternal life with God.

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Roman 10:9 ESV

If after reading this you desire to have a relationship with God and have Jesus as Lord of your life, say the following prayer (or something like it) to God.

The Prayer of Response

Lord

I have sinned against you and I am sorry. Please forgive my sin and remove it from me. I believe that Jesus is Lord and that you, God, raised him from the dead! You sent Jesus to die for me and I am thankful for the gift of eternal life. Come into my life, Lord. Help me to live for you! Amen.
