Business Story of Contentment Matters

This is the business story of Contentment Matters.

A few years ago.  My job changed for the better.

It wasn’t easy.  I cried buckets of tears and was angry.

My desires were ending.  The difference is the desires were mine and not God’s.

Business story of God’s Plan: Humility before Honor

While preparing for our Women’s Bible study a week before my job change, I read: Proverbs 15:33, “The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.”

I began to pray about this verse, and tears flowed down my face.

“Humble me, Lord.  How do I need to be humbled to have your honor?”

The job change was the answer to that prayer.  My desire for the promotion was not what God wanted for me.  It was evident that my desires did not match His desires.

His Delight – not mine

This reminded me of one of my favorite verses:

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 ESV

If I delighted in Him, wasn’t He going to give me the desires of my heart?

The Hebrew word for delight means to be happy about or take exquisite delight.  Webster’s Dictionary defines exquisite, in this context, as ‘having uncommon appeal.” My field was specific and a very hot topic in technology. The work was appealing to me.

Like any job, there was a downside.   Not only was some of the work frustrating, but I was also stressed.  And my health was showing it.

Even with the stress, I continued and delighted in what I did and how I could get ahead in the field.  I was blind to the fact that I was not truly delighting in the Lord. No wonder my desires did not align with His!

How do I understand what His desires are for me?

Humbly Surrender your desires

I had taken the first giant step.  I had asked Him to humble me. With my desire removed, I was ready to delight in Him.

I had learned to surrender my desires to Him. I was taking exquisite delight in Him by seeking His counsel in all areas. Once my focus was on delighting only Him, my desires aligned with His desires.

With this new job direction, I realized I would have time to write again.

This is what eventually led me to create Contentment Matters and my previous website, Gods Plan Guided Steps!

Business Story: Contentment Matters – Your journey

I want to help other working women take delight in who God is, what His Word says, how His plans and desires can become your plans and desires, and how it leads to your contentment in life. God has created you to bring Him Glory, and He has a plan that uniquely fits you and your gifts! He loves you and wants you to be contented in life, when it is spent honoring Him.

In this life, the world tries to tell us who we should be and that identity is flawed and something you can’t live up to. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God sees us as His chosen child, beloved and blessed. This is the identity in Christ that we need to see ourselves as God does, not as the world does.

Welcome to the journey of finding contentment in God’s plan for you and being satisfied in Him!  I am glad you are on this journey with me!

You may want to start with why we desire contentment in like to understand why Contentment Matters. I believe that your contentment matters because God loves you and you matter to Him!

Thanks for joining me, and have a blessed day, my friend!  God loves you so much!

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
